Thursday night was the night all the Fallas got burnt down. They all burn at different times so we had to plan what we wanted to see. the kids fallas (the little on in this picture) were burnt at 10pm, then the bigger fallas were burnt at 12pm, and finally the big fallas in the main square was burnt at 1am.
Mark and I watched the little one light up from our balcony, then went down for a closer look. then headed into town for some churros :P and to see some other fallas light up.
one of the big ones we watched created so much heat when it burst into flames that the whole crowd surged 10 metres back to get out of the way.
The fallas are made of polystyrene with wood frames and they are doused with an accelerant, then lit up through a fuse, which has fireworks along it, so fireworks go off as the statue lights up. pretty darn cool.
